BOOKS extinct?

Libraries may slowly become extinct because who wants to carry books back and forth. (This i agree with because I've lugged around 10 books all at once before in the name of research. Yet, it gave me a strange sense of satisfaction. Strange kid.)

Now, I enjoy the convenience of the internet. All the information I could ever need, at my fingertips.

But a book is special.
a tree was sacrificed to create this miracle called paper.
it just feels different when you're browsing through shelves and shelves of books.
the look, texture, smell and feel of a book. yes, smell. Books have a certain scent to it. Varies of course depending on the personality of the content, author and publisher (j.k. ok 1/2 kidding).
Flipping the book back and forth in my hands to read the description and compare to the picture is such a satisfying feeling.
It's fun to see what type of book seduces you.
To practice the skills of not judging a book by its cover.

And I'm totally guilty of writing notes on the edges of the page (certain books).
While others which I collect (children's book& wonderful stories). They are both sacred.
What I love most is picking up the book again years later, to encounter myself back then.
My thoughts compared to now.

It gives me a sense that I've grown, accomplished much, become wiser.
My book is my meter.
This meter applies to diaries even more.

And of course the meter would also hint to me if I'm still feeling and thinking the way I did years ago. Luckily, (sigh of relief) it has not happened.

ok ok, in all honesty...only short periods of time and then I made sure I stopped slacking.

So I choose books for enjoyment, knowledge and fun.
Internet for research material and work.
I just realized I was contradicting myself because I'm writing a blog.
I save special thoughts or when I have a creative block to write in a diary. It's just magical the way the ink flows from the pen to the paper. Beautiful.
